Biography

CAREER

Played in 55 games in two seasons at Georgia State, drawing eight starting assignments...Logged 28 games in freshman season of junior college basketball.

Stellar academic achievement, making President's List with 4.0 GPA in summer and fall, accumulating a career 3.82 GPA at Georgia State.

Scored 210 points (3.8 ppg) with three double-figure scoring games at GSU...Had top game of 18 points at Troy (Feb. 15).

Grabbed 224 rebounds (2,9 rpg) with four games in double figures, topped by 13 as a sophomore.

Blocked 16 shots with three games with two blocks.

2012-13- (2nd at Georgia State)

Played in 26 of 31 games, gaining two starting assignments.

Scored 68 points (2.7 ppg) and pulled down 75 rebounds (2.9ppg).

Top game was 18 points on 8 of 10 FG in Sun Belt's highest-scoring game for total points...Tied season-best eight rebounds in that game in playing 19 minutes...Made 8 of 10 FT as well.

Had eight rebounds in final regular season game vs. Western Kentucky (March 8) in 15 minutes.

Had seven points ands seven rebounds in playing 20 minutes in win at first-place Arkansas State (Jan. 14).


2011-12 - (1st at Georgia State)

In first season with the Panthers, played in all 29 games, including six starts...Netted 142 points (4.9) and grabbed 149 rebounds (5.1) in adjustment year into Division I ball.

Had four double-figure rebounding games, two double-figure scoring games and one double-double.

Showed potential early in fifth game of season with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots in just 19 minutes of a win over Florida A&M...Had first career double-figure rebounding game in third game she played with 11 boards vs. Jacksonville State (Nov. 14).

Had three consecutive games with 11 rebounds: Jacksonville State (Nov. 14), Georgia Southern (Nov. 23) and Florida A&M (Nov. 24).

Season-high rebounding game was 13 against Drexel on Feb. 28...Had eight points in that game, just missing another double-double.

Second double-figure scoring game of the year was at Belmont (Dec. 13) with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Played 20 or more minutes in five games, topped by 28 vs. James Madison (Jan. 20)...Season-best free throw game was 8 of 10 vs. Florida A&M and 4 of 4 at Florida.

Blocked 14 shots on season, including four games with two blocks...Shot 41.5% on the season (49 of 118) from the field.

Was a Dean's List honoree both semesters at Georgia State, with GPAs above 3.5 for both semesters in her inaugural year in the NCAA.

JUNIOR COLLEGE CAREER

Ranked in top five in NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) stats in both scoring and rebounding at Lamar (Colo.) CC under coach Michael Wells.

Dogo was named to the Region IX first-team squad.

Pulled down 15.3 rebounds per game to finish No. 2 in the NJCAA and had 429 total rebounds.

Had top rebounding game of 27 boards on March 3 vs. Brown Mackie College...Topped 20 rebounds in seven games with double-figure rebounds in 23 of her 28 games...Had eight games with 10 or more offensive rebounds and had 205 offensive rebounds on season.

In scoring, ranked No. 5 in NJCAA with 20.0 points a game and 561 total points in 28 games.

Had 13 games with 20 or more points, topped by games with 40 points and 36 points...Also had a 28-point game and a pair of games with 27 points.

Produced double-double scoring and rebounding efforts in 20 of her 28 games. 

Had a 40-point, 25-rebound game...Other impressive outings included a 36-24 game, a 24-18 game, a 27-rebound-19-point game and a 22-15 game.

Shot 52 percent for the season, making 219 of her 422 shots...Best game percentage was 11 of 13 (84.6) vs. Dodge City CC...Her 40-point night was 16 of 25...Shot 50 percent or better in 16 of her 28 games.

Defensively, made 56 steals (2.0 per game) with 29 blocked shots...Also had 30 assists.

Recruited at many levels, including visit to Texas, with interest from Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, TCU, Memphis and Seton Hall.

Was chosen as one of two students at Lamar CC to speak at Commencement service in May.

Named by the NJCAA for Superior Academic Achievement in 2011-12 when she posted a 3.93 grade-point average at Lamar.

NAIA REDSHIRT SEASON

Dogo began her United States experience by signing with Oklahoma City University, an NAIA-member school, in August of 2010. She stayed at OCU for one semester and received a redshirt year.

She transferred on to Lamar to start classes in January of 2011.

PREP

Began playing basketball at God’s Time Comprehensive School in her native Nigeria.

Averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for coach Babes Gambo.

Was named Outstanding Player of Samaru local government area Prinicpal’s Cup in 2006, 2007 and 2009...Was Most Valuable Player of Gaskiya Invitational tournament.
Was a Samaru Basketball for Peace All-Star in 2007 and 2009...Played for the Kaduna State National Sports Festival team coach by Goga Toro and Babes Gambo...A top five pick as Players To Watch in seconday schools.


PERSONAL

Maryam was born Dec. 25, 1991, in Kaduna State, Nigeria...Daughter of the late Alhaji M.A. Dogo and Sikiratu Dogo.

Obviously a big fan of American women's basketball, she lists Olympian and WNBA star Candace Parker as her favorite.

Kaduna, Zaria, Nigeria is about 6,000 miles from Atlanta in the western section of Africa near the equator...Zaria is a large, metropolitian area.
