Crystal Moody

Crystal A. Moody joined Georgia State University - Athletics Department, January 2017, as an intern for the Panthers Athlete Support Service Department where she was eventually hired as the Tutorial Coordinator and Learning Specialist for the department. In this role, Moody oversaw and provided individual and/or small group tutoring for all Georgia State University student-athletes.

Moody collaborated with Administrators and Directors in specific areas to support the implementation and assessment of programs and practices in which supported student-athlete retention and progression, in addition to, provided instruction in areas including reading comprehension, note taking, test taking, time management, study skills, concentration, memory, motivation, faculty interaction, classroom engagement, and other learning strategies. She was also responsible for the successful management of budgeting, payroll, and onboarding for 18 support staff members for the department.

In 2019, Moody was promoted to Director of Career & Employee Relations Specialist where she has created a comprehensive and strategic program that provides student-athletes with tangible skills required to be lifelong leaders, developed, and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments such as the Career Center, Center for Counseling and Student Development, and to provide Life Skills services to Student Athletes. She is also oversees and facilitates the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as the advisor.

Moody earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern University in Therapeutic Recreation (2001) where she was a member of the Lady Jaguar Softball team. As a member of the team in 2000, she was awarded Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Year. Moody was later inducted into the Southern University Hall of Fame (2019) alongside her father and grandfather. Moody later returned to school to receive her Master of Education degree in Coaching, Sports, Recreation, and Fitness Administration (CSRF, 2017) with an emphasis on Academic Advising from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. While attending Angelo State, Moody was the recipient of the 2017-2018 William N. Wasson, Student Leadership and Academic Award.

In the midst of completing her master’s degree at Angelo State University she implemented the First-Generation Rams program (FirstGenRams) designed to help first generational college students’ transition from high school to college. The program strived to educate, mentor, and help students to reach their ultimate goal of graduation from college. She was also responsible for overseeing the update and revision of the CSRF Graduate Assistant Handbook (2016). In addition, she conducted a book review of “3-D Coach: Capturing the Heart Behind the Jersey by Jeff Duke” (2016).
Moody is a strong believer of being a servant to the community and giving back. She enjoys volunteering for Meals for the Elderly and animal rescue, Snap2It. In addition to volunteering, she is a member of Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), and the National Intramural Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA).

Moody is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She is a native of Georgia where she graduated from Stone Mountain High School.
