Biography

CAREER

Appeared in nine games in her two seasons at Georgia State...Logged 24 minutes with two points and two rebounds...Signed with the program after Coach Baldwin-Tener arrived in the late spring of 2010.

2011-12

Played in four games with 13 minutes game time...Started only game of career and scored two points at James Madison (1/26/12) to go with two rebounds...Played in nine minutes in that game and also had a blocked shot against the Dukes.

Played two minutes at VCU (1/29/12) and one minute in wins over Bethune-Cookman (1/2/12) and William and Mary (2/26/12).

2010-11

The freshman post player saw action in five games during her first season at GSU.

Logged 11 total minutes of playing time, topped by five minutes at Nicholls State...Played three minutes vs. Northeastern in a CAA league game...Had two shot attempts during season, but no other stats.

PREP

Played one year of American high school basketball at Lake Forest Academy (Ill.), averaging nine points, nine rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

Coming out, she was recruited by at least a half dozen Division I schools, being offered by CAA rival Towson and recruited by Elon of the Southern Conference.

She made her visit to Atlanta in the spring and was hooked. Smith notes that Atlanta and Sydney are almost the same latitude on the map with similar weather conditions and lifestyles. She felt the GSU coaching staff could help her develop faster into a Division I level player.

Was team's most valuable player on championship team of Coach Chris Tennyson...Scored 20 points for a season high.

Played a year of AAU ball with Full Package Athletics team. In addition to Chicago and Illinois games, the team traveled to Tenessee and Indiana. That team was coached by Steve Pratt.

Played first years for the Hornsby Spiders in Australia, being picked for the Australian Under 20 Championships in Queensland.

Played three years of varsity school ball, including the North South Wales Institute of Sports...Her Loreto Normanhurst team won their conference under Coach Moyes.

Victoria was selected to play on the IGSSA team, which is an all-girls private school team. Then, she was chosen for the CIS squad, which is comprised of all the girls' schools in the state.

Once she developed a love for the game of basketball, Victoria knew by the age of 16 she wanted to come to the United States, where basketball was the best in the world.

PERSONAL

Born on Aug. 15, 1990, in Sydney, Australia.

Victoria Rae is the daughter of Larry and Louise Smith. She gets her 6-foot-3 height from both sides of the family. A six-foot-six uncle helped get her started in basketball when he needed some players for his daughter's team. Victoria's dad played rugby and her mother was a swimmer.

With her father being in the horsing business, she loves horseback riding...Mother is a school teacher.

Her Australian home also gave her a love of beaches and enjoying the ocean...Grew up a fan of Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics.

Is a journalism major at GSU.
