Softball Falls to Ranked Gators in Tampa

GSU hosts Georgia Wednesday in the 2020 home opener.

Box Score TAMPA, Fla. -- Georgia State faced #7/#9 Florida Sunday in the final game of the USF-Rawlings Invitational with the ranked Gators winning 10-0 in five innings.

Georgia State started Emily Buck in the circle and Buck managed to hold the powerful Florida offense to one run through the first three innings, but the Gators erupted for four runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth.

The Panthers couldn't get anything going at the plate against Florida's Rylee Trlicek who allowed just one base runner.

Georgia State wraps up the weekend with a 1-3 record. Sydney Stavro went 4-for-9 in the leadoff spot for GSU, scoring three runs. Caitlin Ray is the RBI leader on the team after the opening weekend with four runs driven in.

GSU's home opener is Wednesday at 5 p.m. against #16/#17 Georgia at the Bob Heck Softball Complex. Admission and parking is free.
