Worth Leads GSU Past Coastal Carolina

ATLANTA -- Taniyah Worth scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting to lead Georgia State to a 73-68 win over Coastal Carolina Tuesday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

Worth knocked down three of Georgia State's 10 3-pointers. It was the fifth time this season GSU has made double-digit 3FG. Worth scored eight of her points in the first quarter as Coastal Carolina took a 24-23 lead into the second period.

The Panthers used an 8-0 run over the final 3:19 of the second quarter to build a 12-point lead at the half. Taylor Hosendove scored all seven of her points in the period.

Georgia State continued its hot shooting in the second half to pull ahead by 17 with just over five minutes to go in the game. Coastal Carolina stepped up its defense in the final minutes and went on a 7-0 run with less than two minutes to play to cut GSU's lead to single digits. Tehya Lyons and Joelle Johnson knocked down some clutch free throws in the final minute to secure GSU's 11th win of the season.

Taylor Henderson and Hannah Sadler joined Worth in double figures, each scoring 10 points. Henderson added a team-high five assists as well. Kam Dziak totaled eight points with three steals and Lyons finished with nine points. Johnson had four of GSU's 15 steals as the Panthers forced 24 turnovers and scored 22 points off those takeaways.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season at home this weekend with games against South Alabama Friday and Saturday on ESPN+. As both teams prepare for the conference tournament in March, the Jaguars currently hold the No. 2 seed in the East while GSU is tied with Appalachian State for the No. 3 seed.
