Panthers Drop Series Finale at KSU 5-1

Two hits each for Merejo, Cheney and Riesselmann

KENNESAW, GA – Georgia State dropped the series finale at Kennesaw State 5-1 Monday at Stillwell Stadium.
 
The Panthers (5-21) actually outhit KSU 9-7, but Georgia State left nine on base, including five in the first three innings.
 
Griffin Cheney and Elian Merejo each had a single and a double for the Panthers. Cheney led off the third inning with a double to right field and then scored on Merejo's RBI-single.
 
Kyle Riesselman also had two hits for GSU, along with a great diving catch in center field that likely saved two runs.
 
The Owls (16-8) swept this four-game series, but the two teams are scheduled to meet one more time this season with a May 4 contest at KSU.
 
Georgia State returns home and gets back to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend, hosting Georgia Southern in a three-game series that will be played Thursday through Saturday due to the Easter holiday.
