Panthers Fall in Series Opener vs. Georgia Southern

ATLANTA – Georgia State fell 23-1 to Georgia Southern in the opening game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at the GSU Baseball Complex.
 
Georgia Southern (13-11. 4-3 Sun Belt) scored an unearned run in the first inning and then broke the game open with five runs in the third and seven in the fourth. The Eagles collected 24 hits, including four home runs.
 
For Georgia State (5-22, 1-3 Sun Belt), center fielder Kyle Riesselmann extended his hitting streak to seven games with a third inning single. Freshman right fielder Dalton Pearson scored the Panthers' run on wild pitch.
 
The series continues with a 3 p.m. game Friday on ESPN+.
