Glass Hits Fourth Homer in Five Games; Panthers Fall in Series Opener

ATLANTA – Ryan Glass homered for the fourth time in the last five games, but Georgia State dropped its series opener against Little Rock 7-3 Thursday at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Little Rock (21-26, 11-11 Sun Belt) got an outstanding start from right-hander Hayden Arnold and five RBI from left fielder Miguel Soto, who had a two-run double in the third inning and a three-run homer in the fourth.

Arnold (7-3) pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five.

The Panthers (15-36, 10-12 Sun Belt) finally got on the scoreboard with three runs in the eighth. After back-to-back hits by Josh Smith and Will Mize put runners at second and third, pinch hitter Branson Bowling drove in Smith with a groundout, and then Mize scored on a wild pitch.

Then Glass hit his solo shot to left field, his seventh home run of the season and the 18th of his career.

Glass, who also had a double in the seventh, now has seven homers on the season and 18 for his career.

The series continues with a 4 p.m. game Saturday at the GSU Baseball Complex.
