ATLANTA - Mikyla Tolivert scored 22 points but Georgia State fell 74-60 to the Chattanooga Mocs on Wednesday night at the GSU Convocation Center.
Tolivert's 22 points equaled her career-high set against St. Bonaventure on November 25. The sophomore from Melbourne, Fla. shot 7-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Deasia Merrill scored 12 points with eight rebounds to reach double-figures in her fifth straight game, and
Tehya Lyons added 11 points off the bench.
Georgia State couldn't overcome a hot-shooting Chattanooga team that shot 54 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
The Mocs converted their first five shots to open the game on a 12-0 run before GSU rallied to cut the deficit to 25-19 at the quarter break.
GSU trailed by 11 with 6:28 left in the third when they clawed back to within six but could get no closer as UTC pulled away and led by 22 in the fourth.
The Panthers rallied with an 11-0 run in the final three minutes, but it was too little too late.
GSU will return to action to face Clemson on Sunday, December 4. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
