Panthers Fall at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, LA. -- Georgia State fell 78-70 at Louisiana in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday night the Cajundome in Lafayette, La.

Dwon Odom led the Panthers (8-8, 1-3 Sun Belt) with 18 points, along with four rebounds. He was one of four Panthers in double figures along with Ja'Heim Hudson (14 points), Jamaine Mann (13 points) and Brenden Tucker (12 points). Freshman center Edward Nnamoko pulled down six rebounds.

Georgia State trailed just 32-26 with four minutes left in the first half, but Louisiana scored the final nine points of the half to take a 41-26 lead into the locker room.

The Panthers responded with a 7-1 run to start the second half to quickly cut their deficit to 42-33. 

A 3-pointer by Hudson brought GSU within six points at 46-40 with 15:34 to play. Shooting 50 percent in the second half, the Panthers managed to to stay within six for much of the second half, but that was as close as they could get.

Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Jordan Brown led Louisiana (12-4, 2-2 Sun Belt) with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Ragin' Cajuns used their size to score 36 of their 78 points in the paint while outrebounding the Panthers by 10.

Georgia State head coach Jonas Hayes became ill and did not coach the second half, giving way to assistant coach Danny Peters.
