Mann Scores 18 But Panthers Fall at Coastal

CONWAY, S.C. -- Four Panthers scored in double figures, led by Jamaine Mann with 18 points, but Georgia State fell 77-68 at Coastal Carolina Thursday night at the HTC Center.

Mann, who also grabbed nine rebounds, came within one of his career high and scored in double figures for the sixth time in the last seven games.
 
Trailing 35-24 at the half, Georgia State (10-17, 3-12 Sun Belt) made several runs at the Chanticleers (11-16, 5-10) in the second half, pulling as close as three points at 37-34 with 14 minutes left. The Panthers hung around, trailing by just five at 61-56 with 4:39 left, but could get no closer.

Collins Moore scored 14 points for GSU, including four 3-pointers, and Dwon Odom added 12 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Kaleb Scott came off the bench to score 12 points in the second half, his high in a Sun Belt game and two off his career high. He went 5-for-5 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

"Kaleb was ready when he named was called, and he brought a lot of energy tonight," head coach Jonas Hayes said.

"Our guys never give up, but have to keep working on the importance of every possession, taking care of the ball and attaching ourselves on the defense," Hayes said. "We can't allow our offensive struggles to affect us on the defensive end."

Coastal Carolina shot 47 percent from the field and went 22-of-25 from the free throw line. Antonio Daye Jr. led the Chanticleers with 22 points.
