How It Happened

Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 25-18 at the end of the first quarter.

Georgia State dominated in the paint, scoring eight of its 13 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, Georgia State continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 41-37 before going on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Tolivert, to expand its lead further to 47-37 with 1:20 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Owls had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Panthers still entered the fourth quarter with a 49-40 edge.
