ATLANTA, GA --The Georgia State Panthers brought a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 5-4 to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Tuesday.
Freshman Makayla Stephens (2-7) got the ball to start for Georgia State (10-32) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on seven hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Georgia State managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Panthers then held the Yellow Jackets scoreless before expanding their lead in the fourth inning. Georgia State picked up two runs, including one on a solo homer off the bat of senior Chloe Nadler, which brought the score to 4-0 in favor of the Panthers. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Georgia Tech scored five times over the remaining three innings to grab the 5-4 win.
